The focus is on so called last (and first) mile with a look at cargo and passenger applications. Drone industry is changing rapidly alongside the evolving electric flying. The possibilities of this relatively new area in aviation are huge but there are several challenges as well. In this study module we`ll study both of these elements.
After completing the course, the student:
• has a well-rounded understanding of Urban Air Mobility and Last Mile Delivery concepts
• is able to recognize the development areas and opportunities in Urban Air Mobility
• can skillfully assess the appropriateness of the present initiatives of “aviation in cities” within industry stakeholders
• is able to understand and address specific challenges related to Urban Air Mobility
• is able to identify the stakeholders, their purpose and roles within Last Mile Deliveries
• is able to communicate Urban Air Mobility for Last Mile Delivery within the stakeholder groups
Contents
Urban Air Mobility for Last Mile Delivery will take a look at the trends and potential developments mainly in the short haul electric flying (e.g. drones) as part of the logistics ecosystem. We approach the themes from strategic, operational, economic, legal and digital point of view.
The implementation will concentrate on the topics like:
Introduction to the logistics ecosystem incl. last mile (and first mile) delivery and the concept of UAM
The challenges concerning last mile (first mile) deliveries and the role of UAM in solving them
The global market for Urban Air Mobility solutions
The integration of UAM operations with the logistics ecosystem (hub-structure, challenges and possibilities, digital supply chain, etc.)
The strategic choices of companies in relation to last mile (first mile) deliveries (in-house vs. outsource, part of retail entity vs. - transportation companies)
The Safety of operations (incl. regulatory progress)
The possibilities for the future
The affects to the sustainable future of aviation (environmental, social, economic)
