    The Sustainable Airport Infrastructure Development will take a holistic look at the sustainable airport business and its future needs. The aviation business is changing rapidly and the management and the leadership levels of the airports will have to adapt to the developing requirements.

    The Sustainable Airport Infrastructure Development will take a look at the trends and foreseen and potential developments in the sustainable airport industry. The sustainable airports are approached from the strategic, operational, economic, legal and the digital point of view.

    The implementation will concentrate on the topics like:

    Introduction to the airport business and the role of sustainability in it. Markets and megatrends.
    Airports and sustainable flying
    Airport design and master planning
    Sustainable airport infrastructure
    Sustainable airport operations and services
    Offsetting and accreditations
    Sustainable airport ecosystem
    Airports of the future
    Assessment criteria
    Assessment criteria - grade 1
    The student is aware about the topics of the implementation. The student is able to analyse and discuss/write about the presented topics. If applicable, the student takes part to the debate and the course’s projects and contributes to their success.
    Assessment criteria - grade 3
    The student is knowledgeable of the topics of the implementation. The student is able to competently analyse and take part to the discussions or write about the presented topics. If applicable, the student debates actively and takes an active part in the contribution to the course´s projects and their success.
    Assessment criteria - grade 5
    The student is an expert and knows well the topics of the implementation. The student is able to analyse professionally in writing and/or lead the discussions about the presented topics. If applicable, the student can debate as an expert and shows leadership skills in the course’s projects and contributes significantly to their success.
    Further information
    When the implementation type of the course is contact, online or blended it is required that the student is present during those teaching hours that are marked in the study schedule. If you are absent more than 25%, your grade will be lowered by one. If you are absent more than 50%, the course is failed.

    Teaching methods and instruction

    This is an asynchronic course.

    All the lessons are virtual; there are no contact or online lessons.
    The lessons have been pre-recorded and all the assignments can be completed at any time when the course is open.
    All the material (lecture slides and the other material) as well as the assignments can be found in Moodle under separate tabs.

    Learning material and recommended literature

    The instructor will use her own teaching materials (slides), books, and a variety of academic and media sources. The material and the case examples are global.
