Implementation methods, demonstration and Work&Study
The Blended Intensive Program (BIP)
Intro
This course explores the Northern Baltic Sea as a connector of economies and cultures. It focuses on Finnish and Estonian business cultures and the opportunities created by a shared maritime region. In addition, it highlights the role of foreign trade for Finland and examines how sustainability and responsibility guide the development of maritime transport.

Teaching methods and instruction
The Blended Intensive Program (BIP) includes
- a virtual part on Moodle (kick-off webinar, independent online studying and pair work)
- a physical part in Helsinki (expert presentations, group activities and workshops, company visit, excursion to Tallinn).
Working life connections
The implementation includes guest lectures.
Internationality
The BIP brings together students from multiple countries, fostering intercultural competence, collaboration across borders, and exposure to diverse business practices and perspectives.

Assessment methods
1. Kick-off Webinar, Moodle Exercises, and Pair Work on Moodle (pass/fail)
- Student is expected to actively participate in the webinar and pair work.
- Student has to score at least 50 % in every exercise. There are unlimited attempts
2. Learning Tasks and Site Visits during the Physical Part (pass/fail)
- The student is expected to actively participate in the activities, company visit, and excursion during the physical part.
3. Learning Portfolio (pass/fail)
- Deadline 10.6.2026 at 12.00
