    Teaching methods and instruction

The mentoring programme aims at the professional growth and the strengthening of professional relationships of the student (mentee).

The student is assigned a personal Haaga-Helia alumna/alumnus as a mentor who guides and supports the mentee in goals. Mentoring is about learning together, sharing experiences and knowledge through interaction.

The student defines the objectives of the mentoring. The objectives may be related to career planning, finding a job or work placement, a change of industry, employment goals abroad, certain challenges in the final stage of studies or working life, learning about the Finnish working culture or a particular industry, self-development or deepening expertise.

The mentoring programme consists of one-to-one mentoring meetings between mentor and mentee, joint group meetings and self-study materials in Moodle. In the kick off meeting, the objectives and ground rules of mentoring are discussed, a mentoring agreement is drawn up and interpersonal skills are developed. We also network with each other as a group in the programme.

NOTE! The course is open to all degree students, regardless of campus, programme or orientation. Master students can enrol, but the credits are not included in the degree.
