    -understanding data structures (ERP) and related business processes (O2C and P2P)

    - solution based on selected user stories

    The student:
    a) has a basic understanding of the agile BI development process
    b) is familiar with data structures and related business processes
    c) has gained some understanding in planning and developing a BI

    d) is able to utilize market leading tools to create a BI-solution

    Business Intelligence Development Project – BIG4TF023-3008, 5 credit points, Professional studies, Optional

    Prerequisites
    1) Student has passed the BIG4TF022 BI-basic course (or BIG4TA022-3011) before student can start this course (Pass).
    2) 3008: However also students without BI-Basic can be accepted by showing
    necessary skills/knowledge at the immediate start of the course. (NonPass) The test/skills measure cannot be redone and if failed acceptance for this and future courses can only be gained by passing BI-Basic - to be noted places on the course are restricted to number of licenses and is at time of writing - 25
    3) students with BI-Basic passed has precedence if timely enrolled

    Learning objectives

    b) is knowledgeable of Microsoft BI Capabilities - SSAS Tabular and SSIS tools/architecture ( Azure AS)
    c) understands the value of supporting business processes by BI-solutions
    d) has gained experience in creating a qualitative BI-solution by using agile development and market leading tools to extract data from an (ERP) system
    e) has learned to document/present the created solution and the process
    f) has gained experience in publishing solution in Enterprise/Cloud type of environment
    Course content
    - Design and good practices in BI development
    - Microsoft BI - SSAS Tabular and Microsoft Integration Services, Microsoft Azure
    - understanding data structures (ERP) and related business processes (O2C and P2P)
    - planning, developing and testing a complete BI-solution based on selected user stories
    - iterative and incremental development
    - documenting and presenting the BI development process and solution
    - 3008: Architecture setup – either of
    a) Power BI Desktop - BI Services - SharePoint Power BI web part
    (b) Tableau Desktop – Tableau Online (only if and when accepted by teacher))



    Course setup - implementation 3008

    This course will be implemented as follows:
    o The course starts on the first week of the second period. If a start session its informed in Moodle and Whats Going on Section. If and when course is available – it can be started. The course and the project need to be started in accordance with deadlines defined in Moodle.
    o 3008: This is setup as a one period course with the possibility to finish the course before semester start 2022. Basically, doing the project for a longer period is well accepted BUT the project period cannot be less than 6 weeks.
    o Not applying to course deadlines will affect the grade except for start module and acceptance to course ? removal from course.
    o When access to Moodle has been given ? Be sure to check out possible deadlines and instructions in Moodle!
    o If the basic course not passed (NonPass) – check carefully instructions and deadlines – no exceptions to deadlines will be granted
    o The course is setup as an e-learning course. Teacher might assign a time when he will be available in class/Zoom – if so information will be given in Moodle.
    Drop-outs and retake
    Due to the number of students enrolling and later dropping out in e-learning courses the following rule will be applied for this and future implementations
    * Restart of course is only allowed if you have not finished the Start-up Module
    * If Start-up module has been done and you after that are denied access or do not finish ? the course can only be retaken by specific decision of teacher

    Implementation 3008 specifics

    This implementation will as main architecture apply Power BI Desktop- BI-Services - SharePoint. This architecture was tested as pilot on 3006 and was successful. 25 Power BI Pro license is reserved for this course. The project can also be done with Tableau Desktop – Tableau Online – secondary architecture – teacher acceptance required.
    A more guided approach setup is now applied – as more students expected to do ? streamline and support passing course. You can change the standard setup in your project plan.

    The student:

    b) is very knowledgeable of data structures and related business processes
    c) has excellent skills in regards to planning and developing a BI-solution
    d) is mastering market leading tools to create a BI-solution

    To achieve the highest grade, it would be expected that

    To pass this course the student need to
    - independently plan, execute and report a BI development project in accordance with schedules and created project plan
    - the work MUST be done as in a project with sufficient timespan between start and end of project
    - Teams CAN be accepted but requires always a start-up meeting with teacher.
