Intro
In this course you’ll learn the core components of experience economy and will be able to implement them in practice. You will familiarize yourself with Sustainable Travel Finland -programme, a step-by-step process of operating tourism and hospitality businesses in a sustainable way. Equally, you will get a grasp of the basic juridical concepts, regulations and contractual practices of tourism and hospitality fields. You will also learn the basics of relevant labour legislation, applicable in both workforce or managerial positions.

Teaching methods and instruction
At class teaching, independent study, learning and group assignments and an exam.
Teaching will be based on participative and applied learning methods and supervision of independent work.
Working life connections
The course uses examples and cases from working life. The course includes also visit/s to companies in the sector and/or guest lectures.
Exam dates and re-exam possibilities
At the end of the course there is an exam on the sustainable and experience-part.. Details of the exam and the timetable for it will be announced on the course platform.

Learning assignments
There are a few learning assignments to be assessed, which will be specified in the first session of the course. The instructions and timetable for the learning tasks can be found on the course platform.
Assessment methods
The law-part of the course is 3 credits, i.e. the grade of the whole course is 60%. Similarly, the sustainability and experience-part is 2 credits, i.e. the grade for this component contributes 40% of the total course grade.
The minimum points required to pass the law-part is 30 points and the minimum points required to pass the sustainable and experience-part is 20 points.
