Schedule

Period 1, Autumn term 2021. Contact tuition is on Mondays 12:00-16:00. Weekly schedule is available in the course Moodle environment from 25.5.21 onwards.

Implementation methods, demonstration and Work&Study

• 8 x 4 hour contact classes with compulsory attendance. Contains lectures, group debriefings and consultation.
• Independent study and process writing the thesis plan based on feedback given.

RPL is possible for students who have completed a bachelor's or master's thesis previously and have the competence to complete a thesis plan individually to the same standards as required in the course. To plan RPL, contact elizabeth.sanmiguel@haaga-helia.fi.

Compulsory course materials.

Teaching methods and instruction

Comprises compulsory contact tuition with lectures and ad-hoc group work as well as independent virtual study on course assignments. Additionally, students with commissioned thesis project negotiate with companies/organizations. Students can get extra support by making a personal appointment to the GLOBBA Thesis Clinic (by appointment) through the GLOBBA Students SharePoint --> GLOBBA Thesis --> Excel file.

Working life connections

Students are strongly encouraged to find an internationally operating commissioning organization that has a need for an RDI project as part of their organizational process or service development. Commissioning organizations can be for-profits or non-profits.

Exam dates and re-exam possibilities

- The student must complete THE7LF100 Introduction to Thesis non-stop virtual home examination before the THE7LF101 course. The examination is available in the GLOBBA Student Sharepoint at --> https://haagahelia.sharepoint.com/sites/globbaforstudents/thesis/SitePages/Home.aspx --> In the folder "THE7LF100 Introduction to Thesis---Virtual Home Exam Packet".
- The course THE7LF101 does not have examinations.

Internationality

Students are strongly encouraged to find an internationally operating commissioning organization that has a need for an RDI project as part of their organizational process or service development. Commissioning organizations can be for-profits or non-profits.

Completion alternatives

- Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is available for the course THE7LF101 for students who have previously completed a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD thesis in higher education, or conducted and reported larger scale RDI projects at work or in hobbies. The RPL application should contain: student's full name, student number transcript of record, thesis evaluation statement, thesis publication, and a complete thesis plan for the project to be undertaken as GloBBA Thesis. Completed applications should be sent via email to Elizabeth San Miguel. Those needing assistance to prepare the thesis plan to qualify for GLOBBA requirements for thesis plans can reserve a Thesis Clinic appointment through the GLOBBA Student SharePoint --> Thesis site.
- The student may apply for transfer crediting of a previously completed bachelor’s or master’s thesis if it was written in the student’s field of professional specialization in GloBBA. Completed applications should be sent via email to Elizabeth San Miguel.
- Reports completed previously in working life, studies or leisure activities can be incorporated as part of a portfolio thesis. For more information, ask your THE7LF101 lecturer.

Learning assignments

Seven written assignments that focus on the student process-writing his/her own actual real thesis plan during the course.Attendance is required in the small-group assignment debriefings in class. Assignment settings are available in the Moodle environment.

Assessment methods

- Self-assessment: Process writing the tasks and the thesis plan based on continuous self-assessment
- Peer-assessment: Self-assessment is supported through feedback from peers and the teacher throughout the course.
- Assessment by the teacher of course tasks and final thesis plan
