Schedule

On-campus teaching during period 1 every week. Teaching also takes place during period 4 on Spring 2026 semester. The schedule will be announced by December 2025 at the latest. A more detailed, themed schedule can be found in Moodle. Teaching sessions last 45-90 minutes. Location: Porvoo Campus.

Implementation methods, demonstration and Work&Study

Various implementation methods are offered during the academic year. For degree students, the primary method of study is the contact/online teaching of their own guidance counselor.

It is not possible to complete a demonstration on the Introduction to Studies course, as the purpose of the course is to support students in their orientation to studies.

Intro

This course will jump start your studies in Haaga-Helia. During the course you will learn the basics about your field of studies, planning your studies, the services Haaga-Helia offers you and the opportunities available for students. After the course you will be well prepared to continue your studies at Haaga-Helia.

Teaching methods and instruction

This course is a part of all Haaga-Helia's Bachelor's degrees and the student can participate in any implementation. This implementation is specifically aimed at students of Sustainable Tourism and Event Management students.Guidance Counsellor is Sari Sinisalmi-Airila.

It is not possible to complete the course using other learning methods, as its purpose is to support students in orienting themselves to their studies.

Learning assignments

The course includes mandatory learning assignments that must be submitted via Moodle.

Assessment methods

The course is graded on a Pass/Fail scale. A passing grade requires the successful completion of the course assignments and attendance."

When the implementation type of the course is contact, online or blended it is required that the student is present during those teaching hours that are marked in the study schedule. If you are absent more than 50%, the course is failed.

To pass the course, you are required participate actively, complete all the course tasks with a passing grade and complete a guidance discussion with your guidance counsellor.

This course is included in the Keys to Studies and Career module. To complete the Keys to Studies and Career module, you are required to complete the course Introduction to Studies (2 ects) and three other courses (3 ects) from this module based on your own preference and interest.
