Schedule

Course Wk 1: Introduction to course contents, tasks and assessment. Go through of Haaga-Helia’s ICT and learning environments (HH-network, Office 365 incl. OneDrive & SharePoint), and their various offerings to support efficient learning.
Course Wk 2: PowerPoint and ingredients for a successful presentation.
Course Wk 3: Microsoft Word exercises with the Finnish Document Standard.
Course Wk 4: Structured, multi-section documents in Word. Co-authoring.
Course Wk 5: Review of Powerpoint, Word, and learning assignments.
Course Wk 6: Business processes and business process flowchart creation with Visio
Course Wk 7: Review of examination 1 (Powerpoint and Word). Exercises with OneDrive sharing.
Course Wk 8: Examination 1 review. Spreadsheet computing basics with Excel.
NO CLASS
Course Wk 9: Spreadsheet computing: Excel and functions. Visually pleasant spreadsheets.
Course Wk 10: Excel functions continued. Sums and subtotals.
Course Wk 11: Recap of functions. Importing and exporting data. Finding knowledge from data.
Course Wk 12: Charts and pivot tables.
Course Wk 13: Data analysis and making sense from data.
Course Wk 14: Examination 2 (Excel and Visio).
Course Wk 15: Effective teamwork and practices for working together. Exam 2 review.

Two examinations: course week 6 (Powerpoint, Word) and course week 15 (Visio, Excel).

Learning assignments

Compulsory learning assignments (5 pcs) are weighted at 20 % of student's final course grade. Detailed instructions and timetable for successful completion are provided in Moodle at the section “Compulsory Assignments”.

5.2 Excel basics with a chart. Graded with 0-5 scale.
6.3: Excel advanced functions and formulas. Graded with 0-5 scale.

Assessment methods

The final course grade will be calculated with the following weight in assessment categories:
Examination 1: 40 %
Examination 2: 40 %
