Schedule
Course Wk 1: Introduction to course contents, tasks and assessment. Go through of Haaga-Helia’s ICT and learning environments (HH-network, Office 365 incl. OneDrive & SharePoint), and their various offerings to support efficient learning.
Course Wk 2: Haaga-Helia ICT environment continued (if needed). PowerPoint and ingredients for a successful presentation. Exercise guided by the teacher.
Course Wk 3: Haaga-Helia’s assignment and report guidelines. Referencing techniques in HH style academic writing. Exercises guided by the teacher.Finnish document standard introduced.
Course Wk 4: No class / “Fuksiaiset” = Freshman event.
Course Wk 5: Word and its efficient utilization with text documents (incl. Finnish document standard). Exercises guided by the teacher.
Course Wk 6: Review of the learning assignments. Review class with assignments of PowerPoint and Word for the examination.
Course Wk 7: Examination 1 (PowerPoint and Word).
Course Wk 8: Business processes and business process flowchart creation with Visio. Exercises guided by the teacher.
Intensive study week - no classes.
Course Wk 9: Examination 1 review. Spreadsheet computing basics with Excel.
Course Wk 10: No class / teacher’s other commitments.
Course Wk 11: Spreadsheet computing: creating reports and charts. Exercises guided by the teacher.
Course Wk 12: Spreadsheet computing: functions. Exercises guided by the teacher.
Course Wk 13: Spreadsheet computing: database functionalities. Exercises guided by the teacher.
Course Wk 14: Review of the learning assignments. Review class with assignments of Excel spreadsheet computing for the examination.
Course Wk 15: Examination 2 (Excel and Visio).

Exam dates and re-exam possibilities
Two examinations: course weeks 7 (report, assignment and business document writing and presentation graphics) and 15 (spreadsheet computing and business process flowcharts).
Re-examinations will be provided during fall 2019 semester.

Learning assignments (4 pcs) are weighted at 20 % of student's final course grade (5 % each).
Learning assignment 1: PowerPoint presentation. Graded with 0-5 scale. Detailed instructions and timetable for successful completion are provided in Moodle at section “Learning Assignments”.
Learning assignment 2: Word business document. Graded with 0-5 scale. Detailed instructions and timetable for successful completion are provided in Moodle at section “Learning Assignments”.
Learning assignment 3: Excel basics with a chart. Graded with 0-5 scale. Detailed instructions and timetable for successful completion are provided in Moodle at section “Learning Assignments”.
Learning assignment 4: Excel advanced functions and formulas. Graded with 0-5 scale. Detailed instructions and timetable for successful completion are provided in Moodle at section “Learning Assignments”.

Final course grade will be calculated with the following weight in assessment categories:
