Intro

In this course, we explore artificial intelligence (AI). What does artificial intelligence mean and what does intelligence mean? We neglect the coding part of the course since the focus of the course is to answer these questions.

Materials

Taulli T. Articial Intelligence Basics, 2019
Articles and lecture material

Teaching methods and instruction

Weekly one common time slots: one 2-3 hours contact session that covers lectures, discussions and team work presentations. Lectures are not recorded. Learning the topics involves and requires studying course materials (incl. the book) outside common sessions. Assignments do not require deep technical (e.g. coding) understanding. Assignments have predefined schedules, late returns are accepted only as exceptions for a proper reason and late returns will result in reduction of points. Team work is done with others by default and not as a solo assignment without a proper reason and solo team work can affect the grade.

Working life connections

Expert presentations from the business world. Connections to RDI (Research, Development, and Innovation) projects.
Through group work, participants network with students and their potential workplaces/companies.

Exam dates and re-exam possibilities

The implementation is carried out through learning assignments that cannot be retaken.

Assessment methods

The grade of the course is coming from assignments (65%; solo + teamwork) and quizzes (35%; threshold quiz and final quiz).
