Intro

A competent and development-oriented workforce is one of the most important success factors for organisations. Learning and development also form the foundation for meaningful individual careers. But what exactly is learning and competency, and how they can be supported and developed at the individual, team and organisational levels? How can an organization learn with agility and renew itself creatively? If these questions interest you, this course is for you. Welcome to the fascinating world of learning, development and career design!

Materials

Material will be provided in the learning platform (Moodle)

Teaching methods and instruction

The teaching method in this course is the flipped classroom. The Flipped Classroom is an approach where traditional learning structures are reversed. Instead of receiving lectures in class, students first study course materials, such as videos, readings, or presentations, before class. Classroom time is then used for interactive activities like discussions, problem-solving, or group work, allowing for deeper understanding.

Working life connections

The course is closely linked to working life, for it aims to help students analyse evolving competence needs, factors affecting individual and organisational learning and competency development, and opportunities for career design. They will be able to plan strategically driven competency development, support continuous learning, and utilise career design methods.

Internationality

The learning environment, language and the material provided are international.

Completion alternatives

If a student has prior theoretical and practical knowledge acquired before the course implementation, they can propose a demonstration of competence (Recognition of Prior Learning, RPL), for which instructions are available at (https://www.haaga-helia.fi/en/career-planning/recognition-learnin g).

Learning assignments

There are five themes in the course, each with an assignment in the form of an essay, presentation, discussion or quiz.
