Intro
Hei ja tervetuloa! Welcome to a journey to Finnish language and culture! You will learn to pronounce Finnish and communicate in some simple everyday situations. By actively participating in classes and studying at home, you will create a solid basis for further Finnish studies.
Materials
Study book: Sonja Gehring & Sanni Heinzmann: Uudistettu Suomen mestari 1, Finn Lectura, chapters 1-5 (2020)
Other material available in Moodle and online
Teaching methods and instruction
- contact classes, active participation needed
- active self-study between the lessons (homework and Moodle exercises)
- two comprehensive supervised assignments (tests)
- other learning assignments (weekly tests)
Working life connections
The course is through language strongly linked to the Finnish society which gives international students a possibility to adapt more easily to Finland.
Exam dates and re-exam possibilities
- Two comprehensive supervised assignments ("midterm test" and "final test") at Pasila campus. These assignments can not be retaken separately.
- Students, who want to improve their grade after the course, can take a re-test. You have two attempts within half a year after the course has ended. Ask your teacher for the dates. The re-test covers the whole course content. Re-test only can approve the points you got from the "supervised assignments". The points for "continuous assessment" stay.
