Implementation methods, demonstration and Work&Study

This intensive week course is designed to take the student one step further in 3D, namely to design a mesh and take it through the 3D printing process. With 8 printers available, a limited intake of students will be effected with max 20 students attending.

Students will then learn how to design, prepare and print their own designs, and it is planned that this course will enable students then to use the printer lab at their own discretion.

It is possible to pass this course via RPL by bringing relevant 3D printed objects to class and showing also how the STLs were made-

Intro

This course is for those who have taken the DIG012AS2AE Basic 3D Design with Blender. On this course you will learn 3D modeling for making prints in filament printers as well as our top of the line SLA Resin printer. After the course you will be ready to take on 3D print work for clients, such as YLE, for which we produced 132 medals for a drama series. YLE has returned for to us and we are building 3D printed, robotic parts for their children's programs. This course is for anyone who has acquired the basic modeling skills and is willing to expand their skills towards physical objects from virtual meshes. After this course you may be able to use your skills in DIG006AS3AE 3D Extended course, if we have a client who needs 3D print work.

Materials

This is a hands-on course, with some theoretical information at first.

Teaching methods and instruction

This course presents the use of fused deposition printers (FDM) and resin printers (SLS).

PLEASE NOTE THIS:

An absolute prerequisite for this course is a passed MUM 8TA001 Basic 3D Design with Blender course. If this is not your case, please do not apply.

Working life connections

After this course, students are able to run various printers using Cura, RepetierHost and PreForm.

Exam dates and re-exam possibilities

No exam.
