Schedule
The course will be held on Wednesdays during 23.10.-15.12.2024. Participation in the lectures/learning sessions is mandatory. See detailed course schedule in Moodle.
Implementation methods, demonstration and Work&Study
This course learning outcomes can be achieved in the following ways:
a. Lectures and independent work.
b. E-learning and independent work.
c. Workplace-based learning (suom. RPL).
The course also includes a mandatory assessment of their own learning.
Intro
In this course, you will learn how to design digital services using prototypes. The positive experience that product or service brings to end-users is the result of design that can be tested in digital environment with prototypes. In this very hands-on education, you will learn to implement a prototype as a member of a team and gather feedback from end-users.
Materials
All course materials are available in Moodle. There is no course book in use in this course.
Teaching methods and instruction
The course consists of:
- In-class and virtual lectures (in Zoom)
- Individual assignments
- Group assignments
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to apply brainstorming techniques, design a digital service visual user interface, and take advantage of tools for prototyping.
Topics also to be covered in the course include the following:
- Iterative design (lo/mid/hi fidelity)
- Graphical User Interface (UI design principles)
- Tools for prototyping (semi-functional prototyping tools)
- Usability evaluations and inspections (including test cases and test plan)
Working life connections
Real life cases and examples will be used throughout the course.
Exam dates and re-exam possibilities
There is no exam in this implementation.
Internationality
The course is targeted for international students, which provides participants possibilities for intercultural collaboration. Also, international literature, other learning materials, and cases will be used throughout the course.

The Learning outcomes of this course can be achieved in the following ways:
