Intro

Combining Business and Information Technology gives you the skills to apply business principles and knowledge across the IT sector or to assist businesses to implement new technological advances.
Most common business information systems are familiarized via hands-on exercises. Analytics platforms are used to build simple dashboards.
The course provides introduction to tools that help organizations solve problems and enhance processes to improve efficiency, serve customers and achieve business goals.

Materials

Material to be shared on the learning platform, i.e. Moodle.

Teaching methods and instruction

With this implementation, the course is carried out as a contact, i.e. face-to-face teaching and doing learning assignments and participating in class discussions. Instruction takes place in lectures and in the Moodle workspace, which includes e.g. course materials, the information about news and announcements and discussion forum.

Working life connections

The implementation deals with ICT (information and communication technology) and business from the point of view of working life. The implementation also uses guest lecturers directly from working life.

Exam dates and re-exam possibilities

No exam - as the implementation is carried out by doing learning assignments.

Internationality

The topics covered and some examples are international.

Completion alternatives

Regarding your interest to demonstrate your competencies gained at work or in your spare time and covering this training content (Haaga Helia's so called "Demonstrate your competencies" procedure), contact the teacher no later than the first week of the implementation.

Learning assignments

The course has multiple learning assignments. The size of each and therefore value for the grade varies. Assignments, except quizzes and class assignments, are mandatory and must be completed successfully to pass the course.
The learning assignments will be presented and discussed at the beginning of the course.

Assessment methods

The course is evaluated on a scale of 0 to 5. The grade is based on the learning assignments and active participation for the class activities and discussions.
