Learning assignments
Task #1
Search in Theseus University of Applied Sciences interesting AMK thesis in the field of sports coaching and management. Get to know the structure of the thesis. Also check out the Bachelors thesis instructions found on Haaga-Helia's student website Thesis, Bachelor degree | Haaga-Helia. Familiarize yourself with the evaluation criteria and mirror them in your chosen thesis. Make notes for yourself and get ready to present in the next upcoming meeting. (Return the notes to Moodle no later than):
• The topic of your chosen thesis
• What was/was the aim of the thesis?
• What was achieved?
• What would you raise in light of the evaluation criteria?
Download the citation program Mendeley for yourself. The instructions can be found in the LibGuide welcome - Haaga-Helia LibGuides - LibGuides at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. Collect a few interesting and different sources for yourself there (research articles, books, etc.)
Assignment evaluation: Pass/Fail
TASK #2
The goal of the learning assignment is to practice using databases, reading an article, and promoting your own thesis process.
In the task, you must search for two articles in databases based on your thesis, work or other learning tasks. Both articles must be scientific, peer-reviewed articles. Evaluate article reliability using LibGuides. Different theses cannot be used. You can find more information on search instructions at the LibGuides link.
Based on reading the articles, make a report in which you discuss the following: In the report, use the word template for writing a report, the length of the report is 2-3 pages, including both articles. You can find the reporting template under the student pages of Haaga-Helia's website.
• Report and describe your search for information, which databases you used, which searches you made, how many hits you got, how you expanded/narrowed your search, and how you ended up with the articles you selected.
• Describe how you assess the reliability of the articles.
• What were the articles like in comparison to other articles/other texts/experience information you read on the topic? What do you think are the most relevant points of convergence? What was new in these articles?
• What were the most significant findings of the articles? What kind of conclusions have the authors of the articles made? How can you use this information in practice/ in your own thesis, work, etc.?
• What did you miss about the contents of the articles?
• Make a bibliography and citations using Mendeley.
Return your report to this task return platform no later than ???
The reports are evaluated numerically from 1-5.
Task #3
