    Learning objectives
    During the course, students will learn to develop the digital channels of an internationalizing SME and provide them value-adding solutions for digital marketing and eCommerce. While working with a client company students will enhance their skills to understand the client needs and respond to their feedback; as well as communication, reporting and project management.
    Starting level and linkage with other courses
    This module is part of the Specialization Studies, Global Markets and Trade.

    Before taking this module, the student has successfully completed the basic modules 1-6 and core module ‘The foundations of growing a global business’ GLO3LH101.

    It is also recommended that the student has completed the first project module ‘Planning an international business’ GLO4LH101 and the second project module 'Operating an international business' GLO4LH102
    Contents
    This is the third project module of Global Markets and Trade specialization. The students will work and learn in a real-life assignment on the internationalization efforts of an SME. The project will be tailored for the needs of the client company but the key elements are relatively constant:
    - Inbound and content marketing
    - eCommerce & analytics
    - Social media channels

    Students will also complete indivual on-line course and certificates related to the topic.

    The module requires strong and goal-oriented commitment on behalf of the student to team work and the contact sessions in the module. The grade will be based partly on the output and the value of the project deliverables to the client company, partly on the students own commitment, activity and demonstrated professional attitude and partly on individual on-line learning.
    Assessment criteria
    Assessment criteria - grade 1
    • The student understands some e-commerce and digital marketing options in international markets.
    • The student participates in analyzing, evaluating, innovating and presenting new value-adding solutions for a client SME.
    • The student show limited responsibility for the client project including communication with the client, alterations to the project based on client demands, incorporating client needs in the project and reporting to the client.
    • The student follows the given project schedule.
    Assessment criteria - grade 3
    • The student understands the e-commerce and digital marketing options in international markets.
    • The student analyses, evaluates, innovates and presents new value-adding solutions for a client SME.
    • The student assumes professional responsibility for the client project including communication with the client, alterations to the project based on client demands, incorporating client needs in the project and reporting to the client.
    • The student uses some professional project management tools and can manage the project keeping it on schedule and on target.
    Assessment criteria - grade 5
    • The student shows deep understanding of the e-commerce and digital marketing options in international markets.
    • The student has an advanced ability to analyse, evaluate, innovate and present new value-adding solutions for a client SME.
    • The student takes full professional responsibility for the client project including communication with the client, alterations to the project based on client demands, incorporating client needs in the project and reporting to the client.
    • The student uses relevant professional project management tools and can manage the project keeping it on schedule and on target.

    Teaching methods and instruction

    Students will work in teams to implement a real life client project related to the digitalization efforts of an SME. Students are expected to assume entrepreneurial responsibility for the client projects from start to finish. Teachers will act as coaches in the student's learning processes.

    As an individual task, the student will complete an on-line course, certificates and classroom assignments related to the topic.

    Learning material and recommended literature

    1. Students will study on-line course materials related to the topic. The teachers will advice the students how to access the on-line course materials in the beginning of the course.
    2. Strong focus is placed on the student’s ability to search for relevant material for the client company project.
    3. Any other materials will be announced by the teachers.

    Working life connections

    This is a project based course where students will work and learn in a real-life assignment on the digitalization efforts of an internationalizing SME.
