    Learning objectives
    Upon successful completion, the student has achieved an orientation to the target-language speaking market and culture and is able to:

    - Recognize the characteristics of the language (its sound system, background, reach, etc.) and use some basic words and phrases in the target language
    - Acquire intercultural communication skills of the Spanish culture
    - Understand the basics of the business culture
    - Demonstrate some awareness of the market (history, politics, economy)
    - Explore the complexity of the business environment
    Starting level and linkage with other courses
    0-level, there are no prerequisites for this course.

    - Foretaste of the Spanish language (background, alphabet, pronunciation)
    - Basic words and phrases in Spanish
    - Culture of the area (dos and don’ts)
    - Business culture (how to survive in the area)
    - Market (geography, history, politics, economy)

    Assessment criteria
    Assessment criteria - grade 1
    When the implementation type of the course is CONTACT, ONLINE or BLENDED it is required that the student is present during those teaching hours that are marked in the study schedule. If you are absent more than 25 %, your grade will be lowered by one. If you are absent more than 50 %, the course is failed.

    The student has a basic knowledge of the language and culture, as well as the Spanish-speaking market. They are able to read and understand a few basic sentences. The student has only a limited understanding of the business culture and the market contexts.
    Assessment criteria - grade 3
    The student is familiar with the language and culture, as well as the Spanish-speaking market. The student is able to produce a few basic sentences. The student has an idea of the business culture and the market contexts.
    Assessment criteria - grade 5
    The student has a comprehensive understanding of the Spanish context and is able to discuss the market and culture in English. They are able to communicate in a few basic situations in the X-language and relate to the culture when dealing with locals. The student is knowledgeable in the business culture and the market contexts.
