The goal of the course is to help the student to analyze one’s own coaching and facilitation abilities and development areas. The course offers basic of coaching as an outlook on work and as an interaction skill, and, relevance of facilitation and utilization as a tool for decision-making, co-creation and communal learning. Learning takes place in workshops, as independent studies and team work. The course includes coaching workshops, peer-coaching sessions and facilitation exercises. The course includes compulsory assessment of one’s own learning.
Choose at least one book of coaching and one book of facilitation, which you read during the course. You are expected to use these two books in assignments, too. Examples of good books are as follows:

The studies and learning assignment seek to mirror everyday business in corporations and other organizations. Students apply their learning within their current work environment. We will have one guest lecture in this course.

We have three assignments, which you are expected to return by the deadlines. In order to attend the course, please return the pre-assignment on October 26th 2021 at the latest. In order to pass the course, all of the assignments have to receive passed grade (i.e., 1-5). Assignments are as follows: Assignment 1 (pre-assignment), 20 % of the course grade, return on 26.10.2021 at 23:55 at the latest. The goal of the assignment is to present yourself to the teacher and to evaluate your current coaching and/or facilitator experience/know-how/competence. Assignment 2 (coaching), 40 % of the course grade, return on 23.11.2021 at 23:55 at the latest. The goal of the assignment is to coach another student in three separate sessions and analyze own coaching. Separate instructions will be given. Assignment 3 (facilitation), 40 % of the course grade, return on 30.11.2021 at 23:55 at the latest. The goal of the assignment is to plan a facilitated workshop and to document the plan. Separate instructions will be given. Descriptions of the assignments will be published by October 18th 2021 in the course site in Moodle. Please notice that weekly meetings include smaller tasks and practices. Compulsory self-assessment of one’s own learning is not graded but it will be done in coaching and facilitation workshop meetings.

If students have acquired the required competence in previous work tasks, recreational activities or on another course, they can show their competence via a demonstration and thus progress faster through their studies.
