Intro

This course gives you a strong base for other law studies. The course provides an opportunity to learn about the basic legal environment in which companies operate. You study basics of contract law, familiarize yourself with administration of companies, learn about the main Finnish rules based on EU legislation safeguarding consumers as well as key points on employment relationships both in respect of employees or managerial positions.

This course corresponds to the Finnish key competence course Yritysjuridiikka.

This is a contact course and the lessons are held at Porvoo campus according to the Lukkari schedule.

RPL - recognizition of prior learning

If you already have acquired the skills and competences set out in the learning objectives of this course, you can demonstrate your skills and competence. For the demonstration you need to enroll to the International Business Law DEMO implementation in PEPPI.

If you already have enrolled on a Haaga-Helia implementation of International Business Law it is important that you inform both the teacher of your implementation and pia.vapaavuori@haaga-helia.fi during the first week of the implementation of your willingness to initiate the demonstration process. You will then be removed from the implementation by the course teacher.

The demonstration cannot be completed, if you are actively on an implementation of International Business Law or if you previously have received a grade for the course (0 - 5).

Please note that the demonstration process is based on your previously acquired skills and knowledge (e.g. through work) and therefore, no learning materials are provided for you for the demonstration exams and interview.

Assessment methods

All assignments/exams are graded 0-5. At least three (3) assignments/exams must be completed with grade 1 in order to pass the course. The assignment/exam grades have the following weight when calculating the grade for the whole course:

-contract law 30%
-consumer protection 20%
-labour law 30%
-company law 20%

If you are absent more than 25% of the classes, your grade will be lowered by one. If you are absent more than 50%, the course is failed.
