    Learning objectives
    A student who has completed this course or acquired similar competence is able, in his/her own thesis or in other development project:

    • gather relevant information and critically evaluate sources and reliability of the information
    • describe the research process in a matter-of-fact and structured way and mark the sources appropriately
    • use a method suitable for one's own thesis or project to gather and analyse data and working life information
    • justify the choices made and make concrete development proposals
    • apply ethical principles at all stages of one's own research or development work
    • develop a topic for one’s own thesis
    • identify the method options needed to complete one's thesis, and recognize the stages of Haaga-Helia's thesis process.
    Starting level and linkage with other courses
    The course precedes the Bachelor´s thesis. During or after the course, the student registers for the thesis process in the Wihi-system.

    Assessment criteria
    Assessment criteria - grade 1
    When the implementation type of the course is CONTACT, ONLINE or BLENDED it is required that the student is present during those teaching hours that are marked in the study schedule. If you are absent more than 25 %, your grade will be lowered by one. If you are absent more than 50 %, the course is failed.

    - Is able to write a research and development plan.
    - Recognizes different research methods and ethical questions related to research work.

    - Can analyse information and data, and justify one’s choices.

    - Is able to critically assess the reliability of information, analyses and research.

    This course implementation is demonstration for course "Research and Development Skills" (Haaga-Helia course code ANA001HH1AE)

    Learning material and recommended literature

    Comprehensive knowledge of HH bachelor's thesis process, policies and principles. Can be found at https://www.haaga-helia.fi/en/amk/thesis-bachelors-degree.

    As this demonstration includes student's knowledge, understanding and experience of the key features of qualitative and quantitative research and the ethical principles of research, it is primarily recommended for such students, whom have a prior experience of research process for example through having completed a bachelor's or a master's thesis in another field than business studies.

    No "preparation study packages" are offered for such demonstration examinations - the idea and the concept of demonstration is to present and recognize prior learning and skill obtained.

    Exam dates and re-exam possibilities

    Demonstration is offered as an electronic examination at HH's EXAM system. Once student decided to enroll at Peppi, he/she will receive access to Moodle in which at the demonstration examination details are described.

    Your demonstration assessment and Peppi grade for your "Research and Development Skills" demonstration electronic examination will be executed according to the following Haaga-Helia grading structure in relation to your demonstration performance:

    90-100 % performance = grade 5

    80-89 % performance = grade 4

    70-79 % performance = grade 3

    60-69 % performance = grade 2

    50-59 % performance = grade 1

    Less than 50 % performance is failed and grade 0 added into Peppi. In this case, student needs to enroll to standard course implementation.

    Please kindly notice that you are only allowed to take demonstration examination once.
