Teaching methods and instruction

This is a demonstration or DEMO-implementation for students who already have the knowledge and skills taught on the course. The course does not have tuition, teaching or classes.

The demonstration is supervised and it takes place on campus. The test has three parts:
1) Written test that covers the content of the study book (Suomen mestari 2, chapters 5 - 8): vocabulary, grammar and writing
2) CV in Finnish
3) Simulation of a job interview with the teacher (= oral test)

Further information

The course is assessed with the scale 0 - 5. Components of the assessment:
Exam 1 30 %
Exam 2 30 %
Continuous assessment (active participation in activities during lessons, speaking skills, homework) 20 %
Assignments (cv and interview) 20 %

When the implementation type of the course is CONTACT, ONLINE or BLENDED, students’ presence is required throughout the course. If you are absent more that 25 percent, your grade will be lowered by one. If you are absent more than 50 percent, you will not pass the course.

The absence cannot be compensated, for example by doing extra assignments. If the absence is due to illness it will still count as an absence. However, if you get sick you have to stay at home.

Hei ja tervetuloa! Welcome to continue your journey to Finnish language and culture! Do you want to learn how to write a CV in Finnish and prepare for a Finnish job interview? Are you interested in learning about Finnish festivities and celebration of national holidays?

Prerequisite: Finnish Language and Culture 3 or equivalent competence (about 15 ECTS of previous studies).

If you are absent more than 25 %, your grade will be lowered by one. If you are absent more than 50 %, the course is failed.

Your knowledge of the language is satisfactory in view of the projected learning outcomes of the course. Your skills allow you to complete the given tasks and assignments with assistance. You need to develop how to apply your knowledge. In view of the projected learning outcomes, you have a basic knowledge of the language and you demonstrate a limited ability to apply your skills, but you have difficulty to manage without assistance.

Your knowledge of the language is good in view of the projected learning outcomes of the course. Your skills allow you complete the given tasks and assignments independently. You are able to apply your knowledge in practical situations, considering the projected learning outcomes of the course. You can critique your own abilities and identify ways to improve. In view of the projected learning outcomes, you have a basic to good knowledge of the language and you demonstrate sufficient ability to apply your skills.
