Student will take part to a journalistic project in which she/he will use English as a working language.
The theme in the moment is mobile journalism (MOJO).
After finishing the course a student should be able to explain in english different aspects of mobile journalism. In addition, the student is able to employ English while completing all steps of a MOJO story.
Finally, the student is able to understand and analyze the changing landscape of journalism and important topics challenging the profession.
Implementation methods, Demonstration and Work&Study
Lectures, student presentations on current issues affecting the field of journalism and hands on instructions.
Alternative learning methods such as AHOT and prior working experience can be included in assessment of student.

Assessment criteria
Assessment criteria - grade 1
The student is aware of mobile journalism. Can do interviews partially in English and knows of one current topic in journalism.
Assessment criteria - grade 3
The student understands the basic steps of how to make a mobile journalism story that is completed partly in Finnish and in English. The student also has the ability to research and talk about current journalism topics.
Assessment criteria - grade 5
The student clearly knows the theory and the processes behind a mobile journalism story, including the use of all English interviews and voice tracks. The student also displays a critical understanding of current journalism topics, including analysis and domestic and international comparisons.
