Intro

Our Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) offers a unique opportunity to dive into the world of Experience Design through a combination of online learning and intensive in-person collaboration.
Designed for students from diverse disciplines and countries, the course blends theory, practice, and intercultural exchange to help you master the tools and processes that create impactfull experiences.

Learning objectives

After having completed this course or attained an equivalent competence level, the student:
- understands and implements the steps and tools of experience design process
- understands the various aspects of sustainability in experience design
- can implement the steps and sustainability aspects to develop and create services or products for the challenge at hand

Contents

- Experience design theory (progression of economic value, experience realms, experience pyramid, storification and light gamification) 
- Service design and design thinking: design process; customer understanding, ideating, prototyping, and testing, concept creation, and pitching
- Sustainable experiences and services
- Hands on design:  improving or developing tourism or business products, and co-creation of a solution concept for the commissioner’s business challenge

No pre-requisites.

Assessment criteria - grade 1

When the implementation type of the course is CONTACT, ONLINE or BLENDED it is required that the student is present during those teaching hours that are marked in the study schedule. If you are absent more than 25 %, your grade will be lowered by one. If you are absent more than 50 %, the course is failed.

Minimal demonstration of understanding and implementing experience design. Contribution to teamwork when given tasks and advised. Understands the economic, social, and environmental aspects of sustainability. Can argue for decisions impacting the concept created and market the concept when prepared. Requires guidance and shows limited understanding or application.

Assessment criteria - grade 3

Demonstration of good understanding and implementing experience design. Contribution to teamwork independently. Understands the economic, social, and environmental aspects of sustainability and implements it in the design process. Gives evidence to design tools used and decisions made in the design process, creating a viable concept in the challenge. Considers diverse cultures and viewpoints. Competent demonstration of the skills. Applies knowledge with moderate independence and effectiveness.

Assessment criteria - grade 5

Demonstration of excellent understanding and implementing experience design and using relevant tools. Initiative contribution to teamwork. Understands the economic, social, and environmental aspects of sustainability excellently, and implements it in the design process. Motivates the use of design tools, decisions, and outcomes of the concept created. Demonstrates profound understanding of cultural differences, considers ethics, and takes leadership initiative. Excellent demonstration of the skill. Applies knowledge with high independence, creativity, and consistent effectiveness across complex contexts.
