Intro

During this course, you will be introduced to sustainability thinking, which is vital for the businesses in the experience economy. You will become familiar with the core concepts of sustainable development, sustainable tourism, circular economy and safety in the experience economy. This course will increase your competences and abilities to address the sustainability challenges and opportunities of the experience economy.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of the course, the student is able to
• Understand the importance of responsibility in the experience economy
• Understand the principles of circular economy
• Recognise the objectives and criteria of the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label
• Identify the core safety topics and risks related to the experience economy

Assessment criteria - grade 1

When the implementation type of the course is CONTACT, ONLINE or BLENDED it is required that the student is present during those teaching hours that are marked in the study schedule. If you are absent more than 25 %, your grade will be lowered by one. If you are absent more than 50 %, the course is failed.

The student is aware of concepts relating to sustainable business. They can identify the core concepts of circular economy and the steps in the Sustainable Travel Finland path. They have a basic understanding of the importance of safety in the experience economy.

Assessment criteria - grade 3

The student is able to use sustainability thinking in practice. They can promote the use of circular economy practices in the operations of businesses within the experience economy. The student is able to apply some of the steps in the Sustainable Travel Finland path to enhance responsible business conduct. They can use the core concepts of safety in the experience economy.

Assessment criteria - grade 5

The student is able to use sustainability thinking as well as analyse the state of sustainable business in companies in the experience economy. They are able to create circular solutions to companies operating in the experience economy. The student is able to apply and assess the steps in the Sustainable Travel Finland path to enhance responsible business conduct. They can develop safety procedures in the experience economy.
