Intro
Project Management Championship (PMC) is a team competition for young (under 35 years) students. organised by IPMA and PRY/Young Crew (YC) in Finland. Haaga-Helia UAS has been a national winner many times and well succeeded also in the international finals yearly. Participation to the competition is a big networking possibility, highly respected experience by companies and a stepping stone to do the D-level certificate (IPMA).
Learning objectives
The course is based on the Project Management Championship (PMC), international project management competition, operated by Finnish Project Management Association (PRY) / YoungCrew (YC) and headed by International Project Management Association (IPMA). Preparation and participation to the PMC raise project management, networking and team working skills.
Contents
The PMC is a team (3-4 members) competition. Teams will be formed in the beginning of the course. The PMC has 3 rounds: qualification test, national and international finals. Qualification test is usually in Feb-March, national final in March-April and international final in June.
Implementation methods, demonstration and Work&Study
This course has ONLINE sessions (instructions/coaching by the teacher & YC) and has some CONTACT sessions (national & international finals), which are mandatory to participate. Qualification test is done VIRTUALLY.
Learning materials
Qualification test is based on the material provided by PRY/YC. Finals (both national and international) usually contain a simulation game (maybe a simplified version is given for training before hand).

No prerequisites but having a basic understanding of project management principles is a favourable stand point (a lack of this knowledge could be compensated by reading the key material advised by the teacher).
Assessment criteria - grade 1
Grade 1 by less than 45 % of the total points of the qualification test (provided by IPMA).
Grade 2 by 45 - 53 % of the total points of the qualification test (provided by IPMA).
Assessment criteria - grade 3
Grade 3 by 53 - 62 % of the total points of the qualification test (provided by IPMA).
Grade 4 by 63 - 72 % of the total points of the qualification test (provided by IPMA).
Assessment criteria - grade 5
Grade 5 more than 72 % of the total points of the qualification test (provided by IPMA) or a seat on the national final.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
The course is failed if you do not participate to the qualification test provided by IPMA.
Further information
You obtain 3 credits from this implementation after your team has participated to the qualification test before the DL (check from the competition info). Grading is based on the result from the qualification test.
