Learning objectives

After completing the course the student:

- is able to communicate professionally in English in working life
- is able to apply the basic structures of English language
- is familiar with basic academic English usage

Starting level and linkage with other courses

Prerequisite for attending the course:
Upper secondary school English language syllabus or equivalent.
This course is recommended prior to the compulsory key competence English courses for students who have not passed the English level test.

CONTACT, BLENDED, VIRTUAL
There is no RPL process for this course.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

When the implementation type of the course is CONTACT, ONLINE or BLENDED it is required that the student is present during those teaching hours that are marked in the study schedule. If you are absent more than 25 %, your grade will be lowered by one. If you are absent more than 50 %, the course is failed.

Assessment criteria: Pass/Fail

Pass (CEFR level B1)
The student is able to apply the basic structures and vocabulary and has sufficient command of communication skills required in professional working life.

Fail (below CEFR B1)
The student does not have sufficient command of the basic structures and vocabulary and lacks communication skills required in professional working life.
